For women the mammary gland is an organ which constitutes a symbol of sexuality and an emblem of motherhood.

The female breast is situated between the 3^rd and 7^th ribs on the outer area of the thorax; two thin layers of adipose tissue; one (pre-glandular and another post-glandular). (It is supported by the anterior fascia of the pectoralis major or chest muscle)

It is comprised of a cutaneous layer (covering) with the specialized area of the nipple-areola complex (structure) (4-5 cm in diameter) and breast, which is a specialized external secreting gland composed of a lobed structure, ducts and which lead to the nipple.
